Brainspotting Trauma and PTSD Therapy: a short video explanation

When we experience a traumatic event it literally lives in our brains and impacts our thoughts, feelings and actions in ways we may not realize, even after we’ve talked about it until we’re blue in the face. Brainspotting is treatment modality that utilizes eye position to access the trauma or or brain regions impacted by PTSD at its deepest levels so that it can be resolved. It will not erase the memory but it will take away its power.

Here is a great 4-minute video that explains how Brainspotting helps us process traumatic events or emotional hurts and heal, so that the memories of these events no longer trigger us:

Brainspotting is a powerful deep brain (limbic system) and body (somatic) modality that has amazing long lasting healing, recovery and emotional regulation results. Brainspotting goes beyond behavior and symptom management. It allows for the integration of anti-racist and anti-oppressive pedagogies.

Brainspotting Trauma and PTSD with Elaine Korngold

As a trauma therapist I help people regain balance between their past experiences and their present. Memory is stored throughout our brain and we often take for granted how our senses of sight, sound, touch, taste or smell can unlock our experiences, good or bad. Brainspotting is a powerful and innovative way to accomplish this for PTSD or trauma.

When we come through difficult experiences, we like to think it is a straightforward process. Unfortunately, bad and good experiences have ways of sticking around, stored throughout our brain and body, influencing our emotional and physical responses in ways that are known to us and ways that we are not conscious of.

Dr. David Grand, the founder of Brainspotting says: “Where we look affects how we feel”. But what does this mean? It refers to the neurological and physiological processes linked in our subcortical brain. Brainspotting therapists use a number of techniques and tools to help our clients find and work with their anxiety, anger, fear, shame, guilt, and their grief.

I am a Certified Brainspotting Therapist and an Approved Consultant and would be happy to talk to you about Brainspotting. Brainspotting therapy accesses the genius of our deeper emotional brain. During the healing process I am fortunate to observe how intelligent, inventive, and intuitive all human beings are. Creativity is revealed through their resilience, survival, and recovery. The processing that occurs with clients focused on a Brainspot is deep, rapid, and unpredictable. During each session I wait for the surprise and I am rarely disappointed.

With your focused vision and my attuned presence and verbal guidance, emotional Brainspots can be released in a gentle and non-invasive way. There is no need to be in chronic emotional pain. Please text or email me for a free consultation.
